Movie title question: A harp teacher falls in love with his student, this movie is set around the late 1800's?

Alright, so my memories of this movie are very dim (i saw it about 10 years ago). The only scenes i remember are when the harp teacher and his student leave behind secret notes in the harp, to evade the moms knowledge of their romance. I also remember this movie set around the late 1800's possibly early 1900's. Please help, its keeps running through my mind!
