Dog scratching door problem

I know that this is there way in communicating and letting us know something, but my GSD mix sometimes goes overboard and scratches the screen door while jumping, and it is ruining my door and it's getting a little annoying, I love my dog, but I want to teach him how to avoid scratching the door. Is there some link or if someone can tell me ways to help him stop doing this? (I find it okay when he scratches the door to tell me that he is hungry, wants to go inside, or wants to go for a walk) but other times uh uh.
