How do i convince my parents?

Okay, So there is this Project around where i live, called the Ulster Project. It's basically a group of teens from where i live, hosting for 4 Catholics and 4 Protestants from The Belfast area of Ireland, so that friendships can be made and eventually the violence between Catholics and Protestants can end in Northern Ireland! It's a really great program, but my parents can never be home to take me to the activities( even though i can get my tempts whenever i want now) and my dad said it would be " Unrealistic" For me to be able to Host Someone this summer. I really want to do this, but my parents won't listen to reason! Does anyone have any idea how i can convince my parents?
