What is a ct scan with barium and what are they looking for?

i went to the docter with symtoms of a stiff neck, head pain. My blood test came back with a higher white blood cell count and they put me on antibotics. They told me to come back in a week if these symtoms did not diappear to get another head and neck scan with bareum. What are they looking for with this test
