How come im not getting internet?

It may be as simple as setting up your Network Connection as a gateway. There is of course a difference between connecting the modem to the computer, vs connecting the modem to the router then the router to the computer (Whether wirelessly or wired), and you may have to make it known to your system that you've added the jump. This will open the internet connection to the system and make it available to all connections. Don't forget to add a pword to your router so you're not making yourself an unsecured wireless hotspot.
