The only sure way to know is to get an x-ray. My westie had two the first time and four the 2nd time. I would suggest keeping her in a small area because they do not really know what is going on and may run and hide. Be sure puppies get out of sack if mother does not attend to it. If she does not nurse immediately it is okay, keep puppies warm.
