This is a mind boggling question can you answer it for me?

Ok. Ill try to make this simple. They say that the reason we see objects in color is because the light waves bounces off of the object. If an object is percieved as blue, all the colors in the spectrum will absorb into the object, and the blue will bounce off the object and into our eyes, making it appear blue. My question is, what is in in the object that makes it blue and makes the other colors absorb into it,except the blue? What is the true state of the color of objects, if the light is taken away? Is everything in this world really just black, and we just percieve it, because of light, as color?
